How Conception Seamlessly Navigates Egg Donation & Surrogacy for International Intended Parents
Legal Process
The United States is one of the safest places to pursue a surrogacy and IVF journey in the world. As of publication, 47 out of 50 states allow commercial surrogacy. International intended parents can feel calm embarking on a journey that is not only safe but also favorable for their situation. Additionally, surrogacy in the United States is open to all family structures. There is care for LGBTQ couples and individuals, single people, as well as heterosexual couples. This is unique to fertility care in the United States.
At Conception, we work with the top attorneys in reproductive and family law to make sure that your journey runs smoothly. For international intended parents, crucial aspects are making sure that the process of drafting agreements and establishing parental rights is handled correctly and efficiently. We also work with your local attorneys to ensure that you have the correct documents when you and your baby arrive home.
The day you return home with your child should be precious and stress-free. So, we also work with your local family law attorneys to ensure that you have the correct documents and follow the correct local laws and regulations when you and your baby arrive home.
We want you to focus on what is most important – the new addition to your family!
The time you need to spend in the United States after the birth of your baby depends on the legal proceedings in the state where the child was born, but this can range from 2 to 6 weeks or more. Conception will be by your side the whole time while issuing birth certificates and eventual visas/passports.
Financial Security
Being an International intended parent, it can be stressful knowing that your money is being transferred and held in another country. When using Conception you can rest assured that your funds are safe.
At Conception, you will keep your funds in an Escrow Account. Both you and we know that the funds are being managed by an approved and regulated financial institution, which is safe for both you and us!
Insurance
Insurance coverage is important for the gestational carrier, the intended parent(s), and the baby. Conception partners with experts to ensure that you receive the right level of insurance. We know that navigating insurance in the United States can be tricky, so we take that burden over so that you can confidently focus on your pathway to parenthood.
Access to World Renowned Clinics
Your IVF clinic is a critical part of your pathway to parenthood. Selecting an IVF clinic and doctor in another country can be challenging. That is why Conception will provide you the opportunity to work with one of its partner clinics in San Francisco, California or Dallas, Texas. Having access to these partner clinics allows you to access the best physicians contracted rates to minimize your financial liability. That said, at Conception, we respect your decision to work with any clinic that is right for you. The choice is yours!
Our partner clinics in San Francisco and Dallas are both established and world-renowned clinics. With a combined 100 years of physician experience, 20 years of practice, and over 10,000 collective births, these physicians boast stellar success rates in egg donation and surrogacy.
You can look forward to excellence in surrogacy, egg donation, and clinical services all in one place so you don’t have to manage multiple relationships!
Regular Communication and Visiting
Communicating with your agency and surrogate as an international intended parent can be tricky. Waiting for an answer is even worse! At Conception we prioritize communication and make sure to facilitate a smooth means of communication between all involved parties. Communication with us should be effortless, and we always strive to get back to you as quickly as possible, wherever you might live. We speak multiple languages, partner with translation services and will do our best to communicate with you as it fits you best – during times and using means of communication which you prefer. Some of the ways that we communicate include email, telephone, WhatsApp, WeChat, text messages, and Zoom.
Your individual pathway to parenthood will dictate how many times you need to visit the United States.
Intended parents using donor embryos and a gestational surrogate will only need to visit the United States to welcome their baby! Intended parents using their own sperm, an egg donor, and a gestational surrogate will typically make a single trip to the United States to have male screening and sperm cryopreservation (freezing) completed. After that, they will return for the delivery of their child. Finally, for women or couples using their own eggs, the initial visit to create embryos could last for ~2 weeks, and then the final visit would be for the delivery of the baby. The final visit at the time of delivery usually begins a few weeks prior to delivery and can last for 2-6 weeks after delivery, depending on the state that your gestational surrogate delivers in.
Typically, medical screening (as described above) takes place in a United States clinic, but in some cases can occur in your own country. At Conception, we are always looking for ways to minimize the travel and stress on our international Intended Parents. Your visit for medical screening as an Intended Partner contributing sperm is a one-day visit. You may also use this visit to have other parts of your pathway to parenthood, such as completing your psychological evaluation and having an initial consultation with a legal team.
Conception appreciates that making multiple trips to the United States can result in financial challenges for Intended Parents. This is why we partner with local providers in your country to ship certain samples and tests into the United States when possible. We have relationships set up to achieve this in Spain, France, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, and other countries.
